Lately, I've been thinking of going for something a little less wordy and more professional looking, like the one Thomas has through retaggr:
Actually, what appears in Thomas' e-mails is a smaller (half-size) version of this, complete with his profile.photo. You'll notice that there are links in his retaggr card that link specifically to all the online profiles he chooses: Blogger, Twitter, Facebook, etc., as well as links to his blogs. It's easy to set up a retaggr account, and a great way to add a little pizzaz to your e-mails while letting others know about your blog(s). There are other similar interactive cards out there, of course. Try running the following phrases through Google or your favorite search engine: "interactive business card" or "interactive profile card".
One final way to use e-mail to garner readership is to simply send out an e-mail to your family members and friends to let them know about your blog(s).

Miriam, retaggr is excellent! I used their service for a couple of years. There is a Google Chrome extension for customizing signatures called Autopen and Firefox has a wonderful extension called Wise Stamp. There are so many choices these days. Excellent work, as usual!
Thanks Miriam for the shout out! Which reminds me I need to do an update - and not just that photo! One of my genealgy New Years resolutions is to separate my business persona (geneabloggers) from my personal persona (tmacentee).
I love Retaggr - and it is a great addition to my marketing toolbox.
Good idea!
Hi Miriam,
There is a neat Firefox plugin that I just found for adding an image signature, like your business card, to Gmail. I just tried it and it works great!

Thanks for all the comments, as well as links and suggestions for other custom signatures!
