Frugal Genealogy: Office Supplies

Today I begin a new ten-part series on Frugal Genealogy, based on my most-requested presentation, "Frugal Genealogy, or How Not to Spend a Fortune on Your Family Tree." Each post in this series will focus on one of ten topics I discuss in my presentation, and I freely share one tip from each topic. If you would like me to speak to your group anywhere in the Pacific Northwest on this or any other subject, please contact me.

January is one of the best times of the year to restock and/or organize your office. Go into nearly any store and you'll find deals on office supplies and organizing products. Even if you tend to keep your genealogy file system as paperless as possible, face it: you probably still need some file folders, printer ink, or at the very least, more backup discs. Along those lines, August is another great month for stocking up on supplies, during the back-to-school season.

I buy everything in August because it is the same time I buy all of my school supplies. Plus - all of the dorm furniture and organization supplies are on sale, so I get a chance to buy a nice filing cabinet or cute baskets or whatever.

I am so excited for the series!

This is going to be a great series. I have to be very frugal on my genealogy so I'll follow your advice and will be anxious to see your tips. Fortunately on THIS tip, i'm lucky to work in an office and get the "recycled" products for my own use. Thanks, Miriam!
