The HAINLINE name originated as the German HENLEIN. This family was located in the area known as the Palatinate, or Pfaltz, Germany. Protestants from this area emigrated to North America and other areas to escape religious persecution, and were called "Palatines." It appears the HENLEIN family emigrated in the late 18th century with a large number of other Palatines to what is now Virginia.
