Fresh October brings the pheasant;
Then to gather nuts is pleasant.

The month is amber,
Gold and brown.
Blue ghosts of smoke
Float through the town,
Great V's of geese
Honk overhead,
And maples turn
A fiery red.
Frost bites the lawn.
The stars are slits
In a black cat's eye
Before she spits.
At last, small witches,
Goblins, hags,
And pirates armed
With paper bags,
Their costumes hinged
On safety pins,
Go haunt a night
Of pumpkin grins.

Hi Miriam,
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month and I will be writing about how breast cancer has affected my family.
Thanks!

Thanks for getting the word out on Data Backup Day!
Thanks for posting these each month. In Ontario, Canada, since 2000 when an act was proclaimed, the day after Thanksgiving is German Pioneers Day.
This year on October 13, the Markham Berczy Settlers Association will make a brief presentation to the Markham Town Council. It was fall 215 years ago that the group of Germans settled in what was to become Markham.
Hi Miriam,
