It's not the distortion of the digital copy that is the concern, it's the damage to the original that should be forefront in your mind.

The whole purpose behind scanning is preservation of teh original, and having a backup. Potentially damaging the original in order to make a backup copy defeats the purpose.

I do understand having piles of photos. I inherited three large boxes of them with several grandparents' passing. It will take me a couple of years to scan everything, but it will be worth it in the end!

We would love to have you join us for Scanfest on Sunday! Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment!Miriam Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12021845886261585678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38696983.post-74906343303114898812011-08-26T09:34:49.695-07:002011-08-26T09:34:49.695-07:00This is some great info about scanning.
With piles...This is some great info about scanning.
With piles of pictures I think I'd rather do the auto feed even if it might slightly distort the overall results of the photos - isn't it better to at least have a digital copy than watch them wash out to sea in a hurricane or drop of the edge of a cliff in an earthquake?
For me at least I want to, and already have, scanned all of them perhaps as emergency back up copy and can go back and fine tune at some point in the future.....Gen Innovationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09656114562167423154noreply@blogger.com
